A Good vacation in France also means a good preparation
Cannes
Originally a modest fishing village, in the 19th century Cannes attracted the attention of a British nobleman, Lord Brougham, who went on to make the town famous. Fascinated by the site, he decided to build villas and develop the coastal path that would eventually become the Croisette. The town became a popular resort for London's high society, and later for the Russian aristocracy. Since 1946, the Cannes Film Festival has attracted world-famous stars, and the rigorous selection of films has contributed to the city's international renown. The Croisette, its palaces, its beautiful sandy beach and palm trees make it a must-see on the French Riviera.
Located in the western part of the Alpes-Maritimes department, Cannes is easily accessible by car or plane, with Nice international airport and Cannes-Mandelieu airport nearby. The train is also a great way to enjoy the magnificent panoramas of the seaside, and in summer to avoid the traffic. Cannes is well served by the Palm Bus and Palm Express networks, allowing you to visit the city and its surroundings. Of course, there's no shortage of cabs, VTCs or car rental companies.
What to do in Cannes with children ?
As the jewel of the Côte d'Azur, Cannes enjoys sunshine almost all year round, making it an ideal holiday destination for families. A short stay or a longer vacation will allow you to enjoy a variety of outings, swimming, lunching on the terrace or picnicking. It's great fun to stroll through the Jardin de la Ferme, where children have free rein, or the Jardin des Hespérides, where jujube, pomegranate and feijoas grow. Children can slide down the slides, play on the rocking horse and have a great time. In the Olive Garden and its play areas, children love to hide in the hollow tree of the Lady with her hand on her heart! For those rare days when the weather is bad, the Fun City amusement park, fully covered, welcomes parents and children to a 1200 m2 play area and a hundred or so activities. The little ones play, and the grown-ups prepare for the rest of their stay in the relaxation and catering area. Fun hiking trails are available for different age groups (4/6, 7/9 and 9/12). Children can pick up their Randoland treasure map at the Tourist Office for an easy stroll with baby carriage in Mandelieu-La-Napoule or along the Mediterranean coast. As they walk around, they can answer riddles: learning while having fun, what a program! A long moment of excitement and discovery, which leaves many happy memories. The Cannes Rallye playground, with its trampolines and bumper cars, is located at Port Canto. Half an hour from Cannes, Adventure Golf offers three mini-golf courses for the whole family. Cannes has also thought of horse lovers who wish to practice during their stay. Less than 10 km from Cannes, Les Amis de Lou Recampado in Mouans-Sartoux offers introductory and advanced lessons all year round. Young and old riders alike are welcome on ponies or horses. The Centre Hippique des Basses Bréguières near Mougins organizes themed courses during all school vacations.
Back to Cannes. Curious world offers an Escape Game that will take your mind completely off the game, immersing you in an unusual, even unfamiliar world. Prices are on a sliding scale according to the number of participants ready to infiltrate a brotherhood or rob a bank. The game consists of solving an enigma and escaping in under 60 minutes! At Fly Simulation, at the controls of an Airbus A320 simulator, you choose the airports you want to take off from and land at. This experience is open to all, provided you're at least 1.40 m tall and over 12! Water sports have pride of place in Cannes, and you have an incredible choice: paddle, water-ski, catamaran, buoy ride alone or with others, or a parasailing tour with a unique view of the beach, the Lérins Islands and the Esterel on the horizon.
The Îles de Lérins offer a magnificent excursion into the grandiose Mediterranean landscape. Embark at Quai Laubeuf in Cannes, before setting foot on land again 15 minutes later. The two small islands, Sainte-Marguerite and Saint-Honorat, offer a rich biodiversity that will delight your eyes and sense of smell as you stroll along the paths. In Sainte-Marguerite, you can even spend a night on site, in the grounds of Fort Royal, and benefit from a family package. The Fort Royal is a former prison renowned for having housed numerous personalities, including, it seems, the mysterious Iron Mask, which is sure to whet children's curiosity. Saint-Honorat has been home to a Cistercian monastery since the Middle Ages. The monastery can be visited, and its great calm, freshness, serenity and mysticism will impress young and old alike.
When you think of Cannes, you immediately think of the 7th art and the Palais du Festival de Cannes, which you may want to visit with your family. On a guided tour, you'll discover the Palme d'Or award ceremony and hear a few anecdotes about the stars and festival-goers, as well as the Salon des Ambassadeurs upstairs and the famous Red Carpet steps.
Farniente and sunbathing, a visit to a museum, an art workshop or a sporting activity will make for indelible memories.
